Privacy Policy
New Life of New York City is committed to protecting your personal privacy. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle any Personal Identifiable Information (“PII”) provided to us by our program participants, their parents or legal guardians, or any members of the public which we receive through your use of any third party Short Message Service (“SMS” or “text”) communications. New Life of New York City reserves the right to modify or change this Policy at any time without prior notice, and the date of the last update to this policy will be posted at the top of this Policy for your information.
“PII” means any information that individually identifies you, including your mobile phone number or user/screen name, as well as any information about you that you choose to include in text messages to us. Your use of text messages to communicate to New Life constitutes your acceptance of this Policy and collection of your PII.
How New Life Uses PII It Receives From You
We use PII to (1) provide you with information about New Life and provide announcements about programs; (2) process and respond to your inquiries about New Life; and (3) determine ways to improve our services and programs including receiving anonymous reports for internal and external review. We retain all messages for at least six (6) months and retain PII on our secure servers. We do not share your PII unless we (1) have your written permission; (2) we have entered into non-disclosure agreements with trusted businesses or persons who are processing your PII and have demonstrated to us that they have appropriate confidentiality and security measures in place to protect your PII.
We cannot protect, and this policy does not apply to, any PII you share with other users. You should never transmit your PII to anyone you do not know.
Opting-In
You may opt-in to receive messages via SMS from us and for us to collect your PII by:
- Entering your mobile phone number online at our webpage.
- Sending a text message from your mobile phone (a Mobile Originating SMS) to our organization.
- Filing out a paper form that includes your mobile phone number at one of our events.
- Providing your mobile phone number to one of our staff at an event.
Opting-Out
If you wish to opt out of receiving further text message announcements from New Life and from our collecting your PII, you may text “STOP” or QUIT” [designated ## code]. We reserve the right to send you certain announcements and messages about administration of our programs without notifying you of the right to opt-out of them each time.
Children Under Age 13
New Life’s programs are not intended for children under the age of 13 and New Life does now knowingly collect information from children under the age of 13. Children under the age of 13 should not submit any PII without the express permission of their parent or guardian. By submitting your PII, you are representing that you are 18 years of age or at least 13 years of age and have received your parent or guardian’s express permission to contact New Life.
You must also be a U.S. resident.
