Guiding Principles & Philosophy
New Life of NYC is built upon the unshakable faith of our founders, Bo & Mary Nixon. Since 1973, their commitment to young people in our city is our legacy and inspiration. That legacy coupled with our faith, compels us to serve those in need, regardless of their beliefs, background, or current condition.
As we work to carry out our purpose and mission we are guided by the principles of Restorative Presence, Social Justice, Changed Lives, and Diversity.
RESTORATIVE PRESENCE
We seek to love our God and neighbors by partnering with others in our communities to bring about a city that is thriving and where everyone can flourish. (Jeremiah 29:7)
SOCIAL JUSTICE
We have a deep concern for the marginalized, mistreated, and forgotten and believe that we must do something - practice justice, love mercy, walk humbly with our God. (Micah 6:8)
CHANGED LIVES
We are committed to a holistic transformation of the mind, body, and soul.
GOSPEL CENTRALITY
We are influenced and informed by the Gospel in everything that we do.
DIVERSITY
We value people of all ethnicities, backgrounds, and abilities as fellow image bearers of God.
COLLABORATIVE
We collaborate with followers of Christ from various faith traditions; we are not affiliated with nor endorse any particular church or denomination. We recognize that many of our donors, partners, and volunteers are people of different faiths, or no faith at all.
